What You Need to Know for Summer Sun Safety Month

August is a time when summer is in full swing. People are hitting the beach, the pool, or just hanging outside enjoying themselves. August is also Summer Sun Safety Month. Your feet can be just as affected as any other part of your body by the sun. As such, it’s a good time to take precautions to avoid any over-exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet rays.

Every year in the United States more than 3.5 million cases of basal and squamous cell skin cancer are diagnosed. Foot melanoma is a type of cancer that affects the pigment-producing skin cells in the foot. Around 3% to 15% of melanomas occur on the foot.
