Issues with your feet can affect anyone, but women have specific sets of issues that they need to attend to. Now is a good time to go over two of the most common problems that affect women’s foot health and what you can do about them...
Warts are caused by a common virus called HPV (human papillomavirus) that is found in abundance in public areas like locker rooms, showers, pool areas, etc. A particularly painful type called a plantar wart grows on the bottom of the foot in the plantar fascia, which is the wide band of fibrous tissue that forms your arch.
These warts often grow hidden from view under thick, callused skin in the ball and heel area. The only visible sign is a small bump on the skin and pain and discomfort in the area when weight is applied to the foot.
Skin softening foot soak and salicylic acid—The wart and the thick skin covering it can be softened by soaking the foot in warm, soapy water. An Acid solution is carefully applied to the wart to gradually remove it.
Abrasion—Using a pumice stone or file to remove dead skin tissue will help expose a hidden plantar wart so that other therapies can be utilized.
Liquid nitrogen—After the thick skin is removed, liquid nitrogen is carefully applied to the wart allowing your foot doctor to break it apart.
Laser treatment—The warts are melted away with a high-energy laser.
